Australia Day in Sydney

Assalamualaikum, hi, hello. Man, it such a long time since I last hit my keyboard to write something in here. Poor blog. Been abandoned by me. I'm very sorry as my life is quite busy - sometimes it doesn't but I pretend it to be one, but truly, I am not having that much free time to waste.

Alright. I visited Sydney last January. At first I deliberately would like to update a little bit late about my trip there because I don't want to ruin the eagerness and all the surprises Sydney will give to my friends who are going there. However, since I keep on procrastinating, four months have passed. *hard slap on the face*

Actually, it was a sudden idea when my housemate and I realized that we're going to have 3 days of weekend due to Australia day. And we were doing our summer term at that moment. A weekend getaway might help us to relax a bit since it was a really packed term. Everything were done online - from tickets to accommodation.

So, on Friday after attending the lecture and tutorial, we rushed to the airport. Even our Zuhur prayer was at the airport. So we waited and waited until the departure gate's open and had to walk to the plane. Just like in LCCT. Oh ya, we're boarding the Tiger Airlines. Right at the moment stepping into the plane, I was mesmerized by the stewardesses. Don't get me wrong ! Haha. It just their uniform that caught my attention. White shirt and slacks. That's all. Nice and simple.

Touched down at Sydney Domestic Airport after two hours doing nothing in the plane - sleeping literally. Since we know nobody in Sydney, our journey was solely depending on public transports. From the airport, we took a train to the city. This where the joy started. Sydney has double decker trains ! Oh wow, we were so so so amazed, our jaws dropped to the floor. Of course we wanted to try something new and ta-da, we went upstairs. To our surprise, the back of the seats can be interchanged ! So cool, neh?

Hopped off at the central train station and walked to the hostel which was hundred metres away.

It was our first time went to a backpackers hostel and this YHA Central Station Hostel was really awesome. They had large kitchen, comfortable washroom, lounge which have pool table, massage chair, Daytona arcade, a lot of bookshelves, and also a cinema room.We chose a room for 4 people so our other roommates were an Australian lady from Canberra and a Japanese lady.

The lounge

That night, our roommates already went out. So, we decided to take a look downstairs - the kitchen and lounge. I was wearing my 'baju kelawar' since we didn't have any plan that night. Should be going to visit University of Sydney that evening but we were asleep because we're so tired rushing off from class to the airport and all. Suddenly, Puteri said she's bored and would like to go outside for a walk. We kept on walking, experiencing the night life in the city and without realizing we had been walking for half an hour and ta-daaa we reached UniSyd. Haha. We made a little tour by ourselves and it was kinda creepy when there were only two girls doing the investigation in an empty university. Not a single soul to be found. Well, it was summer holiday. After a while, we head back to the hostel but we somehow walked pass the hostel for 14 minutes before realizing that we had the wrong way. It was tiring. Seriously.

See?

The next day, we walked to Madame Tussauds museum since it's the place we need to retrieve our Merlin Pass. Although it wasn't as big as the one in London, it still have quite a lot of human wax statues there.

First, let me take a selfie - with Gandhi

Puteri was interviewed by Oprah. Whoa !

After that, we went to Sydney Wildlife and Sydney Sealife. Both of them were next to the Madame Tussauds museum. It was the first time ever I saw a dugong. What a beautiful creature. And huge. And she had this very gentle looking. I love her ! On the way back to our place, we made a stop at Paddy's Market. Well, it's like Queen Victoria market in Melbourne in a way but I think it had more clothes and accessories compared to Victoria Market.

 Tasmanian Devil !

 Spot a platypus

 Dugong-gong-gong-gong

Look at her. Isn't she beautiful? *Steve Irwin tone*

Around 6, we took a bus to Bondi Beach. Well, the original plan was that we would like to watch the sunset. But bus fare in Sydney was quite expensive and they used the prepaid ticket. You need to buy the ticket first from 7-Eleven then you can hop on into the bus. It took us about 20 minutes to get there by bus. Upon arriving there, we were flabbergasted. Subhanallah. The water was turquoise. The first time ever I saw something like that. However, the wind was strong, so did the incoming waves. I wouldn't dare to swim there. But there was a surfer who caught my attention. He was good. Really good.

 Bondi Beach

See those seagulls?

We took a bus to the hostel but we hopped off near Hyde Park. We're heading to Sydney Eye Tower because the fee was included in the Merlin Pass. It's the tallest building in Sydney - a viewing tower just like KL Tower. We were also given a chance to experience a short 4D movie before heading to the lift to go to the deck. 4D was cool.

4D spectacles

On Sunday, we checked out from the hostel. After that, we went to Circular Quay and there were a lot of people. Yeah, it's Australia Day ! At that moment, the wheel chair race was about to start and guess what, the participants were all golden citizen.

We bought tickets to go to Manly Beach and I was over the moon because it was my first ferry ride. Arriving at the beach after half an hour journey, we went straight to Manly Sealife Sanctuary. Well, again it was included in the Merlin Pass. We have to maximize what we had pay, right? Interestingly, they have shark diving there but you have to fill in some forms first and book your turn. No time for that. Yeah, there were a lot of shark in this sealife rather than the one in the city. They also have 3 turtles and one of them was handicapped. He lost his left leg.

 Sea horse

Lion fish. Nice to look but poisonous.

 Doryyyyyy !!

The special turtle. Beautiful isn't it?

We would love to head back and watch the shop for Australia Day. However, the officer said that the next ferry would only arrive in 45 minutes because they were stuck at Circulay Quay. Too many boat and ferries and ships that day. So yeah, we even had our lunch first and came back to the jetty just in time when the ferry arrived. There were no vacant seats so we decided to stand outside. Pergh. That time I understood why some people get seasick. When we almost arrived at Circular Quay, there were a lot of ships - one of them is a Viking Ship for the show. And people in another private boats or ferries kept on waving their hands towards us, so we did the same. It was a very nice experience. It's like everybody was having fun and really enjoy the day. Guess what? It was the peak of Australia Day celebration actually. We were lucky enough to witness that.

And... there's the Opera House !! Just like in the photo I always see. It's nice to see it from the ferry.

After that, we took a bus to Australia Museum. Since it was Australia Day, the entrance fee for that particular day was halved than usual. It was huge. Bigger than Melbourne Museum that I ran out of time to tour all galleries there. One thing I like about museums in Australia is that they are informative and education-based. Not only kids would love to visit them but the adults as well. I hope that one day museums in Malaysia will be as good as them or even better.

Skeletons of different types of fish

Tasmanian Tiger - declared extinct on 1936. The last one died in captivity.

Guess who did I imitate?

When we stepped out from the museum, we saw this. Lucky enough?

Antique cars parade. The cars were all good.

We went to the train station as my phone almost ran out of battery. I needed to charge it badly - for two reasons, to take picture and GPS. Unfortunately, all plugs were preoccupied with other people charging their phones as well. No options left. I walked to the information counter and asked whether he could help me to charge my phone.

"Do you have the charger with you? I can help to charge the phone. But you must come back before 6.15 as I finish my job at that time."

I was speechless. I can only thank him. He was working and he didn't even know me but he offered to help me.

Around 6, I got my phone back. It wasn't fully charged but it was enough at least to use the GPS. Darling Harbour was our next destination. I knew it's going to be full of people but that's among the famous attraction there - I must get there ! We took a tram there and on Australia Day you only need to pay $10 to use the tram to get anywhere for the whole day. If and only if we knew earlier...

There were a lot of people there so my friend and I decided to talk a walk and visit the Chinese Friendship Garden but it was closed to public that day. It's alright. We head back to Darling Harbour to find a spot to watch the fireworks show. In my whole life, that was the first time ever I saw a fireworks show in front my face. Not from distant. But I hate crowded place so yeah, that might be the first and last time to watch a fireworks display really near. The sound - almost made my heart stops beating.

No pictures during the fireworks. I was busy recording it.

After the show, everybody was walking back to the train stations or hotels or whenever they were heading to. Yeap, walking. I felt that I was kinda in a zombie town. Everybody's walking. No cars, no bicycles, nothing.

We walked to Museum Station and took a train to Domestic Airport. This where rare case happened. Our flights was around 6 the next morning so we thought that we might just sleep there. However, the officer came and asked us to leave because they're closing the airport. They will only be operated again at 4.30 the next morning. I never heard about an airport having operation hour. There were 3 other ladies with us and they complained to us about the airport being ridiculous.

Where did we sleep that night? Took a train to the international airport. There was a space provided for early travellers like us. Even the international airport was closed. The next day we catched the 5.00 am train as that was the earliest one to the domestic airport.

And I never felt sooooooooooo good to be back in Melbourne again. HAHA.

love,
nadi

A tribute to BT71

Assalamualaikum and hi.

It seems that my friends are going to leave Malaysia soon. I mean, I left them 7 months ago when I departed to Australia and they kept on nagging that they had a very long so called school holiday. Ta-da ! It's all over now. What do you expect. Time DO flies and without realizing it, you are already at the end of the precious non-class period. Haa.

So, a classmate requested that I should write something for them since I said that I miss those bunch of eccentric kids. Let's get started I suppose. Oh, I'm going to mix the usage of English and my mother-tongue for this activity.

Let's start with the class president, no?

Azim, a boy from Kelantan. Well, I could still remember the first day of the class. There was no teacher around and he came up with this idea.

"Weh, jom taaruf."

Sitting in front of his line, I grinned. Well actually I was having conversation with the boys at that moment though I didn't know their name yet. Why? Because he's Kelantanese, I lived in Terengganu so you can tell, Ini Pantai Timur. Hahahahaha. Plus Azrul was in our class at that moment - before the class re-shuffled. That's how everything started. Ah. Almost three years since that day. Then, he was appointed as the class representative, should I say our class president? He absorbed all the tense and pressure being a leader, never once he complained to the class. But I know what he felt when being scolded by the teachers when the other kids didn't submit their assignments on time. Throughout the two years being together, except for IBE class, we got along very well. It's like you can tell him any problems that you have and he will be there, listening and sometimes give solutions. Most of the times, we did stupid things together. I mean, he will do and I just sit and eat popcorn. Remember what you did in WISPI 1 when we couldn't solve the problem and finish our Math IA as soon as possible? Ashmeer and Jazz jadi saksi ! Well Azim, we know what we've been through and I am definitely sure you'll be a great teacher, and YB one day. InsyaALLAH. Just keep being you the way we know you. Whenever you have any problem just talk to someone. Kalau nak cakap kat aku, telefon je lah. Aussie - NZ tak jauh mana pun. Skype pun ada. Boleh je nak joyah. Teehee. So long my friend :)

Let's move to our mama. Ahaks.

Ok macam ni cerita dia. First impression aku kat budak ni tak elok. Sebab awal-awal dah kena marah dengan dia. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. And I was like, apahal doh marah aku bukan aku buat salah. Tapi cakap dalam hati je lah. Lepas tu sambung kerja. As time passed by, first impression tu boleh la masuk tong sampah. Sebenarnya dia tak garang pun. Baik aje orangnya. Dah tu MPP pulak. Bukan jauh sangat. Kekadang aku lepak bilik dia, kekadang dia lepak bilik aku. Tapi sebenarnya first time aku lepak bilik dia masa sem 1, duduk blok Balkis lagi. Masa tu bilik jauh kena jalan sikit. Tahu apa kitorang buat? Tengok Selena Gomez ! Apa tajuk movie tu... Monte Carlo ! Haaaa. Tapi Tiha ni ada ciri-ciri keibuan la. Sebab tu satu kelas panggil dia mama. Kalau aku malas nak makan, nanti dia paksa. Tolong tapau ke. Paling teruk tolong suapkan. Ada ciri-ciri dah tu. Paling best hari-hari dia tinggalkan buah atas meja aku. Rasa disayangi tak? Wiwiwiwi. Okay kawan-kawan, dia single lagi. Kalau nak masuk line, boleh tinggalkan nombor telefon. Eh. So Tiha, there's too many things kalau nak cerita kat sini, sampai esok kang tak siap. We know each other very well, all the best in New Zealand. I know you will be an awesome Chemistry teacher. Tolonglah buat anak murid jatuh cinta kat subjek tu. Jangan jadi macam aku. Oh, by the way, tengok sikit Pekan tu jangan bior dia buat perangai tak bernonoh. Buek malu yo.

Next is our second mom, Wan.

Since it's a dedication to my beloved classmates, you are included *peace*

This one girl perangai pun boleh la masuk kategori ibu-ibu. Know what, aku asyik kena ayat ni dengan dia, "Nadi, kau ni kan ....bla bla bla..." Nampak tak. Well, one thing I like most about her is her smile. Sweet and with the dimples, it becomes sweeter. Very intelligent girl. Tapi bab berjoyah, hmm, kalau dah nama BT 71 tu, sama je la semua tang kaki nyembang. Hahaha. Reaksi Wan waktu joyah paling best nak tengok. Bila tetiba dia teringat sesuatu pasal seseorang. Kahkahkah. Entah la kenapa Wan punya tak boleh nak panjang macam Tiha, sebab Wan sentiasa cool depan aku kot, tak boleh nak bahan banyak-banyak. Hiks. Tapi bila jumpa, masyaAllah. Macam hari tu kat Seremban. Teehee. I love you babeyh.

Then proceeds to Ms A'isyah Hishamuddin,

This girl was my roommate in KMS and now my housemate here in Melbourne. Panjang betul jodoh. Kihkih. Seriously. I just don't know how she can put up with me since I am really super duper annoying - for almost three years and still counting ! Masa kat Beranang pun still roommate. Nak cakap macam mana? Hai la Ecah. She's very hardworking that sometimes I feel like slapping my own face sebab pemalas sangat. Haha. It's good to have someone that is opposite to you so that you can change in a good way. Thanks for the memories and everything you've taught me and I'm looking forward these few years we'll be together. Ahaks.

Maryam, Mary-Am, Mary-Ann,

Macam-macam nama budak ni. Sabor je lah. Ini lagi seorang housemate di Melbourne. This girl, I witnessed how she transformed from a shy, very shy girl into a talkactive one. *geleng kepala* She was in the same orientation group with me in KMS. It's very hard to hear her voice back then. But, the longer you stay with her, the more friendly she will be. Hypothesis is accepted. Sekarang ni siap dah bahan-bahan aku bagai. Hmmm. Tapi mestilah aku lagi terer nak bahan balik. Yam je pun. Kihkih. Ok, Maryam ni pun tengah cari calon sebab abang-abang dia 3 orang semua dah selamat. Berminat? Sila PM. Wiwiwiwi. Ok Yam, gurau je. Mohon balik Melbourne, jangan nak lama-lama sangat duduk rumah tu.

This one girl, most of my first time so far are done with her.

Kalau baca entri lama, ada pasal pergi jalan ke Kluang lepas tu lepak rumah dia. Masa tu first time naik kereta api, makan Tutti Frutti, pergi Kluang, etc.

Sekarang kat Melbourne pun sama, first time pergi Sydney, naik feri, naik kereta api 2 tingkat, jalan kaki malam-malam tanpa tujuan alih-alih jumpa universiti, and I'm looking forward for every upcoming first times that we will go through. Aicehh ayat aku. Seriously, jangan sebab nama dia Puteri, yu olls nak pandang dia ayu-ayu gitu, haih, hati waja kot. Bakal suami nanti, tolong tempah tiket pergi Macchu Picchu sebagai hantaran. Kbye.

So Puteri, keep your chin up, stay princess and I know you'll do well in Zoology - Biotechnology, ah mana-manalah :) Bunjilaka forever, err, I mean, Yukkurrukurru, err whatever.

The only guy in UK - Ashmeer

Yang ini. Mula-mula aku ingat dia anak Cina. Sekali nama Ashmeer bin Anuar. Kata Azim, "macam mat saleh cakap Melayu." Hahaha. All in all Ash, thanks for being my tutor and taught me those subjects that I really dislike and layan all my stories instead of studying.

Satu kelas tengok. Bravo Ash ! Katanya, dia fikir, kalau lepaskan nanti botol pecah, habis la reagent. See? Masa-masa genting pun sempat lagi fikir.

Just wait for us in United Kingdom, one day insyaALLAH we will visit you there. Behave naaaa. Tak ada Azim nak pantau :p

Kalau nak sembang pasal all girls school, boleh ajak Huda ! Jyeah.

I feel you, Huda. Kalau Huda ni, dia punya hi-5 tu paling power. Tak ramai yang tahan. Sampai merah tangan. Sheesh rindu la nak buat lagi Huda oii. Tapi kalau bab cerita, dia punya ke-beriyer-an pun keluar. Perghhh. And she loves sports shoes. Jangan harap nak nampak dia pakai heels. Maw kena potong markah. Take care in Wellington and tolong tengok-tengokkan sekali Adni and Dayah :)

Here you go, our QUEENsland buddy, mihihihi.

Tango the HAWT. Kalau tengok dia pun korang tahu dia memang hawt. Dengan jadi Hamida nya. Double the hawt.

Kalau tanya apa aku paling ingat pasal dia? Aku akan jawab , COMEL. Okay class, anda semua tahu kan? Bagus. Dan cerita tentang Manja, kucing dia. Senang cerita buka la topik pasal kucing, sampai esok pagi pun dia boleh layan. Budak pandai. Manjang 7 result dia. Memang layak la ke US. Sekali sekala kirim la postcard kat we ollz. Hee.

Kalau nak sambung bab budak suka kucing dalam kelas aku, next in line is Farah. Sorry Farahhhhh. Kadang-kadang aku terpaksa cakap aku faham sebab kesian tengok dia susah-payah nak terangkan. Sobs. Keep those determination that you have and you'll pass with flying colours, insyaALLAH.

Kalau nak berkenalan dengan budak Terengganu dalam kelas aku, selain aku la, pergi cari budak nama Ira. Yang ini awal-awal tu pendiam. Tapi sekali dia buka mulut, aduh saliha. Menusuk kalbu dia punya bahan tu. Aku pernah kena. Sekali. Sampai mati aku ingat. Hahahaha. Jangan memain. Orang kata diam-diam ubi berisi. Tak gitu, Ira? Ira ni okay je takde nak buat perangai pelik-pelik macam bebudak kelas aku yang lain. Ya Allah syukur. Kalau tak ada cikgu, jarang la dia nak buka halaqah belakang kelas. Biasanya duduk kat meja, baca buku. Atau sekadar usya halaqah dari jauh. Wiwiwi. Mung duk Queensland tu molek la ngan Tango. Jangan nok berparti pah malang-malang ngat.

Mail, senang je kan nama dia. Pendiam tapi ada masa dia cakap banyak. Lepas tu boleh tahan kalau dia bahan. Apa yang aku pasti, Mail ni diam-diam dia pun, dia perhati apa yang berlaku. Sebab aku pernah kena, jadi aku tahu. Dan cuba borak dengan dia. Aku boleh kata dia a man with wisdom. Sudut pandangan dia lain daripada orang lain. Tak sama. Sebab tu kadang-kadang aku saja-saja nak pergi borak dengan dia. Seronok nak dengar orang yang fikir tak sama macam apa kita fikir. Kadang-kadang nasihat yang dia bagi tu berguna. Ahh, serious aku tak jumpa lagi Mail kedua. Sebab ni seorang je yang aku kenal. Dan ini budak sangat pandai photography. Gambar dia semua ada feel. Walaupun kadang-kadang tu takdelah korang pose beriyer sangat, tapi orang kata kalau sampai dekat tangan yang pandai, semua pun boleh jadi cantik. Wherever you are now, I wish you all the best and I'll always remember you.

Adni, lagi seorang budak sekolah semua perempuan. Ahhhh Adni why so comel. Paling-paling pun dia gelak sopan-sopan je tengok kitorang punya pe'el. Adni nanti kat Welli, ada apa-apa cari Huda taw. Nadi dah tak ada nak tolong tengok-tengok kan. Sobs *kesat air mata* Fefeeling macam ibu mithali la pulak. Buang tebiat.

Shine bright like a diamond. Okay nama kawan aku ni bukan Rihanna. Nama dia Intan. Cuba la buat apa-apa yang menyakitkan hati, confirm dia tak marah. Dia siap iya kan. Sampai kadang-kadang aku fed up nak buat apa-apa dah. Tak berhasil langsung. Punyalah baik si Intan ni, bila aku mintak maggi, bukan datang peket, datang yang dah siap punya. Tsk. Terharu betul. Dua kali buat pulak tu sebab semua kebulur lepas tu tak cukup la satu round. Dan makan ramai-ramai kan seronok :)

Aku tak boleh lupa kes pindah sekejap Intan. Cerita dia sebenarnya aku sedih la sebab bilik sebelah dah tak cukup korum. Tengok katil kosong je kan. Alih-alih balik. And I don't think our journey will be as great as we had if you weren't there. Kalau dah lepas jadi cikgu tadika, lepas ni boleh up jadi cikgu sekolah la pulak kan, Cikgu Intan?

Asyik sembang dalam loghat Kelantan, kadang-kadang nak jugak sembang dalam loghat sendiri. Hah memang aku cari mamat ni la. Tapi dia suka benor buat perangai yang entah apa-apa entah. Ya Allah kenapalah ada member macam ni. Tapi bagus jugak, terhibur la sikit. Kalau nak bilang cerita pasal dia ni, tak terbilang dah. Oh, first impression eh, memandangkan dia second intake, masa tu masuk kelas tunduk je. Lepas sebulan? Tak payah cakap. Dah terserlah true colour. Si Pekan ni tak suka makan ikan, bila Cikgu Juriah cakap pasal telur ikan tembakul dia boleh jawab, "Tapi cikgu, saya tak makan ikan." Aduh sakit perut la aku gelak. Wehh lain kali jom lepak Kuantan lepas tu bebila drive pergi Seremban. Macam dedulu. Ceh padahal baru sekali. Selamatlah kat NZ tu ye Zairi. Ajim ada, Salam ada, Tiha ada. Jangan nak buat perangai kat depan mat saleh. Jangan malukan Pantai Timur. Kehkeh.

Next, patah balik pergi Kelantan. Haaa. Sebab aku tak nak pergi bilik dia. Mesti timing aku tu akan kecewa je. Dia tengah tidur la, tak ada kat bilik la. Dia ni kalau bab explain benda mesti detail sedetail-detailnya. Hmmm dah ada dah gaya cikgu tu. Cuma Amal, be confident lepas ni. Jangan gelabah itik sangat. Cheerio !

And Dayah, kawan baik la dia dengan Amal ni. Dayah ni kalau tipu pun kadang-kadang dia percaya tapi lepas tu nanti bila kantoi korang tipu, lepas tu nanti dia buat muka musykil. Tapi hati dia baik sebenarnya. Wiwiwiwiwi. Terpaksalah aku call guna number sendiri lepas tu mengaku aku buat prank call. Teehee sorry Dayah, gurau-gurau sayang :p duduk Wellington tu jangan nok galok sangat deh, duk molek, blajo sungguh. Bereh?

Last guy in the class, Syahiran. Tapi dia gedik masa first day kelas perkenalkan diri lepas tu cakap macam ni, "Panggil Syahi. Comel sikit. Hmm tak kisah la nak panggil apa pun. Tapi jangan panggil Syah." Haa, gedik gedik pun power main sukan. Dah la mula-mula tu aku tak percaya dia main badminton. Haha. Serious. So Syahi, behave in Melbourne, capai apa-apa yang ko nak capai. Sebenarnya banyak dah post aku pasal kau jadi malas nak tulis pepanjang kat sini ;p but, bestfriend stays.

And last but not least, my buddy ! Jazzmin Zurich anak Paris. Okay aku suka nama unik dia sebab rasa macam travel pergi macam-macam tempat. Kelas aku dulu, dua orang je budak perempuan yang buat Math HL. Jadi most of the time aku dengan Jazz lah. Sampai WISPI pun sama-sama conquer. Wiwiwiwi. Lepas tu lepak belakang WISPI. Nak-nak masa practice oral English. Hahaha. Dah la gelabah semua sebab kena awal sehari. Tapi selalunya tak lapar pun tapi nak jugak pergi Lahuma sebab nasi lemak dia sedap, burger dia sedap. Omnomnomnom. Jazz selalu cakap, "saya tak pernah jumpa orang macam awak ni." Reaksi aku? Sengih je lah. Ahhh Jazz, kamu tunggu sa di NZ. Kalau sa pergi, kita buat macam apa kita rancang tu, okay. Tengok-tengokkan Ajim dan Pekan. Wish you good luck !

Ahh, there goes my sepatah dua kata untuk korang semua. Buat on one go ni :) Selamat maju jaya, jaga diri, jaga agama, walau di mana anda semua berada. Jangan lupa ibu ayah, tanah air, amanah rakyat, orang-orang yang pernah wujud dalam hidup korang.

Serious, aku rindu nak belajar sekelas dengan korang semua.

Nah, moments :')
